Approach To Care

Dr. Levine began his employment with North Memorial in 2012, and since 2016, he has served as the medical director of the North Memorial Health and CentraCare Monticello Cancer Centers. In addition to seeing customers in Robbinsdale, he is the primary hematologist/oncologist to staff the CentraCare Monticello Cancer Center.

Dr. Levine’s philosophy in healthcare is one where no single treatment approach is applicable to all customers. Because all people are special and unique, he understands that therapy must be individualized in order to yield the best possible outcomes.

He also believes in the power of education. He is active in the Broadway Family Medicine Residency Program and enjoys having physicians-in-training rotate with him in both the hospital and clinic. His passion for education extends to the clinical care setting and he hopes that after every encounter his customers have a greater understanding of their disease and the rationale for therapy.

While Dr. Levine enjoys all of the complexities of hematology and oncology and considers himself to be a general hematologist/oncologist, his specific interests are in the treatment of cancers of the liver and pancreas, the gastrointestinal tract, as well as leukemias and lymphomas.

During his fellowship, Dr. Levine worked in the departments of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Minnesota where his project focused on the development of a series of novel molecules for the treatment of cancer. The synthetic strategies of these compounds, in addition to their potent anti-cancer properties, have been published in peer-reviewed journals. Shortly after he completed his fellowship training, these compounds were patented.

Personal

Exercise has always been an important part of Dr. Levine’s life. He enjoys swimming, running, downhill skiing, weightlifting, and makes boxing a part of his morning routine. He believes that exercise is an important component of health maintenance as well as in the management of disease. When he isn’t working, he spends the majority of his free time at home with his wife and children and goldendoodle, Yoshi.
